ANITA BEST

   

Anita Best is one of Newfoundland's top traditional singers, storytellers, and a well-respected folklorist. In the late 1970's, Anita best career in public performance started, and this was also around the time she started her singing career. Two of the songs that you may have heard before are:

FIGGY DUFFY

   

The band Figgy Duffy was formed in the 1970's and traveled all over the Newfoundland Island playing at bars, festivals and everywhere else they could until the break up of the band in 1993. In the time they were together, they release 3 records and the record "Retrospective" after the break up in 1995. Three of the songs that you may have heard of before are:

GLORIA THISTLE

   

Gloria Thistle began singing has a teenage when she joined her mother's band and then joined a High School Rock band. Now today she can be regularly seen as a solo artist or with a band throughout the city of St. John's, Newfoundland. Gloria Thistle is a singer and songwriter, which has got a bright future ahead of her. Two of the songs that you may have heard are:

SIMANI

   

Sim Savory and Bud Davidge formed the most popular Newfoundland duo group, Simani in 1977. What made The Simani such as well known name in Newfoundland and Labrador was that they nearly wrote and sung all of the songs that they have recorded. Some of the most poplar songs are:
